Doormats Coir is a by-product of the coconut. Vitually no part of this fruit goes to waste.
Coir doormats are made from the husk of the coconut. The husks are first seasoned in the lagoons off the coast of southern India, then each husk is beaten by hand to extract the fibre. This is then woven into doormats on small looms, then stencilled in attractive designs. Each doormat uses the husks of about 40 coconuts.
Coir products are eco-friendly and bio-degradable and have been produced by the same methods for centuries.
Coir doormats can be used inside or outside. Colours are fast and will not run. Although coir doormats receive tough treatment, the design will remain bright and colourful during the life of the product.
